Little Red Vest from Garnstudio Eskimo

I love this cute little red vest by Garnstudio Eskimo yarn. Really enjoyed making it, it's simple and so rewarding. A quick and straightforward project indeed.

The yarn is as always, beautiful colour, easy to work with.

THE BIGGEST CROSS STITCH PROJECT I HAD EVER COMPLETED!!

A dear friend of mine had her wedding a few months ago and I couldn’t make it to the wedding. It was overseas and I couldn’t leave work. So I decided to make this wedding gift for her to make up for my absence in her important day. (Very Important Day…)

I bought this cross stitch kit from Fox Collection website; it’s a Wedding A-Z kit.

The project started in mid May and I worked on it every night non stop because it was so addictive. Sometime in late June or early July, I had a bit of mishap with my left eye (outer cornea layer came of) and I had to take a month break from this project (doctor recommendation by the way…). So after a full month rest, I got back to it. Unfortunately, there were more urgent projects that needed to be completed. So, this project eventually dragged on and on until it was finally completed a few days ago on 30^th Sept. *sigh* I’m so relieved….

6th June - the beginning...

 25th June 2011 - The top right hand corner and right side completed

29th Sept - The whole thing finally completed.

Double Thread Kid Silk Triangle Scarf

The first time I saw this pattern on Garnstudio website, I immediately fell in love with it.

So, after my project queue decreases, I decided it was time to buy the yarn and start this project.

Considering the size of the scarf, it was finished in a very short time, 9 days.

I knitted this in the train on the way to work and back home for 2 weeks.

The yarn is so soft and warm, I put them on my lap and it really warmed my legs.

Initially, I was planning to knit one in a different colour than the pattern’s suggestion, but, I really like this colour combination.

Really cute slippers in Eskimo

I decided to test this new pattern on Garnstudio. 

I’ve never crocheted slippers in Eskimo yarn before, so I was really surprised how good they turn out and how fast the project is. 

Each pair was completed in 1 day (only around 2.5 hours in total). 

The version that I have has crocheted flower because I think it will add a certain degree of cuteness (that’s why I titled this post ‘Really Cute Slippers’). Without the flowers, they looked kinda plain to me.

Gardening Update Number 1

So I moved house recently and had been a real enthusiastic gardener ever since.

And I'm so glad that it finally pay off.

So, I planted 4 new rose plants in late June, Pope John Paul II (White - the most fragrant white rose ever, according to the website), A Country Woman (Red), Paul Cezanne (Pink/White/Yellow, very cute combination), and Ebb Tide (Dark Purple - almost black).

Their growth are not the same, and the Ebb Tide grew faster during the winter season. Amazingly, 7 rose buds appeared :-) to my delight. And they're huge!!

These photos are taken late August and had cut down all the flowers and a little bit of the stem.

A few days after, 3 rose buds showed up on the shorter stems. I'm so happy with this rose plant. It's so recommended, it's so easy to maintain as well.

Just a shot of seasol - seaweed fertiliser mixed in water every month or two will do.

Notice the colour is so dark, it's almost black, very dramatic. It's really gothic in a way.

Purple Alaska Berry Bolero

Hello everyone... it's nice to finally update my blog.
I haven't finished too many projects lately :-) lazy me...
So, this one is a cute little bolero, again from Garnstudio, free pattern using Alaska yarn.
The yarn is a probably one of the heaviest yarn I've ever worked with and I think it gave me RSI.
So, I'm glad it's finally over :-)

I knitted this bolero during my holiday to Tea Gardens. It's a really lovely place, very famous for fishing and there is this fabric shop that has amazing stuff, quite on the expensive side though. The lady was teaching quilting to someone when I got there. Maybe I should take up quilting...

I love the big collar thing around the neck and waist.

Look at this berry pattern, really love it.

The material is so warm, perfect for a cold spring morning. Fingers crossed it will be warmer soon.
