Agnietta Batik Dress

This dress has very simple cut and vintage look. It’s just perfect for the pattern of this Batik fabric.

It’s cute and fun, and it has those two adorable little front pockets to complete the look.

Fifi Top

Another pattern that I like very much, it’s simple but has a bit of detail with the pocket and the little sleeves flaps.

I like this top so much that I completed 2 of them in different sizes and colours.

Alison Weekend Jacket

I knitted this jacket because I fell in love with the pattern. It’s so feminine in a casual relaxing way. The bottom front parts are longer than the back and sides so they will flow elegantly when the wind blows.

It’s a great piece and I enjoyed knitting it very much.

Little Jessie Rompers

This is my first attempt on sewing baby clothing. As I have expected, I encountered a bit of difficulty in controlling the fabric during sewing process. I think it has something to do with the size of the pieces and also the shape.

There are lots of curves on them, which I struggled with at the beginning. But after sewing 2-3 pieces, I got used to it and may eye, hand, and foot coordination got better. J I’m so happy and to think I almost gave up.

There is another challenge in this project, buttonholes.

I bought the brother buttonhole foot attachment, it’s working, but for some reason it doesn’t fit 100% and I had to keep adjusting the foot so it will touch the buttonhole gauge on the machine.

Again, after probably a dozen failed attempts (on scrape fabric of course J), I finally got the hang of it.

Red Cheongsam

I made a blue cheongsam top late last year. When I bought that fabric, I also bought this beautiful red silk fabric to be made into this red cheongsam or qipao dress from my lovely cousin who’s getting married very soon.

The fabric is a bit more challenging to work with because it’s very slippery and it frays a lot. In the end I have to use anti fray liquid to stop it from further fraying.

The pattern is just gorgeous and I had to alter it to make it into a tight fitting dress. Original pattern was more casual in look and recommended fabric was cotton.

Floral Dress

Time flies really fast when you’re having lots of fun J. It’s very close to mid year and I haven’t updated my blog even once this year. Oops. Things have been very busy, busier than normal. My sewing practice is still ongoing and the usual knitting and crochet still happening as well.

All craft activities were put on hold for about 2 months earlier this year due to my pregnancy sickness. For some reason I can stand the view of needles of any sort, knitting, sewing, crochet, whatever types of needles.

But, I’m back now. And I’ve been busy sewing and knitting to reach project deadlines.

I made this dress for my beautiful cousin, the dress is vintage looking and really fun to sew, especially the neckline. Added that one thing in my repertoire of sewing and I can guarantee it will be used in many projects to come.

The skirt is full and fluffy. It’s really cute and this is the first time I made this type of skirt as well.

The balloon sleeves are new to me as well. This is probably the second or third time I sew sleeves and I got better at it this time. I would say it’s probably because I took great care when cutting the fabric and I baste the 2 pieces together before machine stitching.

Overall, I’ve gained great experience in sewing this dress and I can’t wait to make another one.
