Lace Shawl in Kid-Silk yarn

My friend’s birthday was on late May and I decided to knit this shawl for her.
Little did I know how difficult and intricate the pattern is.
I had trouble at the beginning because I did the yarn over incorrectly and I had to re-did it after completing 10-15 rows of the pattern. *sobs*

The shawl turned out to be really nice though. It took me 17 days to complete this, a week more than my prediction.

JBL Speaker Cover

Recently I bought a JBL Speaker that was on a good deal. When I received it, immediately I thought, ‘ O oh, I need to cover this thing,’ especially because of the speaker holes. They’re definitely going to collect dust.

So, I ransacked my stash to find leftover yarns and browsed through my knitting pattern books. I came across this really cute pattern that caused a fluffy and rug like effect.
Anyone interested in the pattern can contact me, I will have to type it to you since it’s in a hardcopy book.

Pink Baby Jacket with Raglan Sleeves and Turtle Neck

A colleague of mine had a new baby in May, so I decided to knit this cute little sweater for her.
The pattern is from Garnstudio and I also bought the recommended yarns for it.
I really love the pattern on the jacket and it’s such an interesting project to work on.

The yarn is very soft and the colour is just beautiful.

I also knitted a matching pair of socks to go along with the jacket.

Project completed in 18 days, finished on 29th April 2011.

Pot Holders and Coasters from leftover Garnstudio Safran yarns

I have lots of leftover Safran yarn from ‘Knitting - Summer Dress in Drops Safran and Peliza’ project. They’re in pretty colours too. ☺
So, I had been thinking on what to make out of them.
I decided on these cute pot holders from Garnstudio.

I only realised that the pot holder is knitted in circular after reading the pattern the second time.
Luckily I had enough yarn to complete them.

After completing 2 pot holders, I still have enough yarns to make these cute coasters.
They’re completed in garter stitch and I added some beads on the sides to make it even cuter.

Overall projects completed in 2 weeks, finished on 11th April 2011.

Cute Plastic Bag Holder

This is the first project I completed after I moved to my new place. ☺
I had almost 2 months break, to organise things and hunt for furniture and so on.

I threw out most of the plastic bags that I had before I moved and in 1.5 months I already collected so many plastic bags from grocery shopping. I really can’t believe this, so I invested in more green bags and now I really try to take them to go shopping.
Anyway, I don’t have any storage for these plastic bags and I googled around for a solution. Surprisingly I came across this pattern.

Since I have lots of acrylic yarn in different colours, I decided to crochet this plastic bag holder.

My friend saw the bag holder when we had brunch at my place and she wanted one.
So I knitted another bag for her, in different colour.

The project completed in 3 days only, finished on 29th March 2011 and 31st May 2011.

Crochet Slippers in double thread Alpaca

I bought a combination of Garnstudio Alpaca and Vivaldi yarns to make the ‘Hot Pink Stocking St Bolero with Rib Edges with Vivaldi and Alpaca from Garn Studio’. It turned out to be the wrong project. So, I ended up with 2 extra balls of Alpaca yarn. So I crocheted this pair of slippers.

I also added buttons to complement the whole look.

Project was completed in 2 days only, finished on 5th Jan 2011.

Easy Garter Scarf

This scarf is made of a combination of 2 unused yarns that my friend gave to me. I decided to make a scarf as a Valentine’s gift for my boyfriend.
I really love the colour combination and it’s very easy to knit as well.

The project was completed in 6 days, finished on 4th Jan 2011.

Crochet Scarf in Mussel Lace Pattern

A friend of mine passed me a scarf project that she didn’t manage to complete. So I pulled out all the yarn and crocheted this scarf. The pattern is really interesting and it’s one of the scarf patterns available on Garnstudio website.

The scarf is a quick win project, completed in 5 days, finished on 30th Dec 2011
The only thing that could make this scarf better is if the yarn is made from alpaca or merino wool. I always find acrylic yarn a bit too scratchy for me.

Flower Brooch for the Choir Girls

I made this flower brooch using my stashed yarn Cotton Viscose and Glitter (from Garnstudio) for my friends in choir. We were scheduled to sing on Christmas Eve mass and we’re supposed to wear something colourful on our white top. I made these during lunchtime at the office and used a simple pin to make them into brooches.

It’s such a simple project and so popular too.

Patons Soft HazeFingerless Gloves and Pom Pom Beanie

This beanie was made from the last 2 balls of Patons Soft Haze that I bought for the ribby texture vest.
The beanie is a slight modification of the pattern in the book because I didn’t have enough yarn left.
I knitted a pair of fingerless gloves to match the beanie and the vest.

I wore them during my camping trip to Wollemi National Park a few months ago. That was a cold morning and the Patons Soft Haze is very warm.

Wii Cover

This is another console that I need to cover to avoid colleting dust. I had a few stashed yarn and I quickly knitted this cover. The cover has pattern on it, but, it’s not very clearly shown because of the type of yarn I used. It still works as a cover so I left it alone. ☺

Autumn Cap

Again, this is one of my several attempts to use up my stashed yarns. I had Sean Sheep Flinders yarns in dark purple colour and I found a pattern to knit a cap. It didn’t turned out to be the right size. But it’s still usable.

Hooded Jacket in Cables with Alpaca

I knitted this jacket for my cousin. She was looking around for a warm enough jackets. So I thought I knitted one for her birthday.

Alpaca yarn from Garnstudio is so amazing, I love the colour, the texture, and how easy it is to hold while knitting.

The pattern is again free on Garnstudio.

Sideways Top from Garnstudio Design

This top is one of the most interesting patterns I’ve ever worked on. The clever design is free for anyone to use on Garnstudio website.
I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarns (yellow colour) but I would recommend to use the recommended yarn from Garnstudio. The end result when using Cashmerino Aran is a bit heavy, although it’s very warm.
The top was done in two directions, horizontal and vertical; horizontal for the top part (with the cables). And once the sides are joined, the vertical work began in circular (the ribs part at the bottom).

Playstation Cover

I knitted a quick cover for my brother’s Playstation 2 console in 2008. This project is a quick win, completed in 2 days only. And I also managed to used my stashed yarn. The pattern is 3-3 rib and I really love the colour and the texture of the 2 yarns I used. Unfortunately I don’t remember the brand of the yarns that I used.

Little Robin Redbreast

This is my first every Christmas project back in 2007. I remember this is when I bought Jean Greenhowe’s Christmas Treasure book. I wanted to knit everything in the book but I thought I gave this one a try first.
This is actually quite easy as I completed this in 6 days.

Long time no blog

Hello everyone… I’ve gotten so busy since late last year and totally abandoned my blog. There are so many changes recently in my life that I have to put blogging on hold. Apologies if some of you are waiting for any craft project news or new ideas for your own. I promised I will try my best to keep this blog updated from now on. J

We recently moved to a new place. I’m joining the home owner wagon now. I’ve been busy decorating and furniture hunting. Luckily the unit doesn’t need renovating (Thank God for that…) so we just moved straight in.

The new place has an east facing balcony, so I’m really happy with it. It’s very suitable for my plants. I have a yellow rose plant, Friesia, that almost died due to lack of sun light at the old place. I thought to ditch the plant when I moved, but after second thought, I decided to take it along with me. That turned out to be a good decision as the plant survived and produced 4 huge flowers in the last 2 months.

I also bought 4 new rose plants to add to my roses collection, Paul Cezanne (combination of white yellow and pink), A Country Woman (red), Pope John Paul II (white – Australian Rose of the year 2011 – the most fragrant white rose ever!), and Ebb Tide (deep purple). They arrived around a month ago and they’re growing quite well (considering it’s winter at the moment). Some of them already full of leaves and I’m hoping to see rose buds in the next month or two.

I also managed to plant a tomato plant on the balcony, which already gave me two little yellow pear tomatoes in the last month. Tomato plant isn’t supposed to bear fruit in the winter, but recent weather has been a bit weird, so, I think the plant confused the weather and thought it’s already spring.

The inside of the unit is also quite sunny so I bought a few succulents to decorate the place. They’re very slow growers. I can’t wait to see them get bigger.

I’ve also been busy with my craft projects, mainly because I have so many yarns in my stash and I’m trying to bring the number down by working on my outstanding projects. So, I’ll be posting more projects hopefully in the next week or two. J
I also noticed that I haven’t posted my earlier craft works, so I’ll try to do that first, before posting the more recent ones.
